My name is Karl. I stumbled into the niche entirely accidentally duirng a trip to Iceland last in 2016. I'm a lifelong Spider-Man fan and I came across some Icelandic Amazing Spider-Man comics at a second hand bookstore in Reyjavik, which I picked up. After some fast and furious googling I somehow stumbled across FCC and Matt Roybal who was a great ambassador to to this part of the hobby. We messgaed back and forth about Icelandic books, then foreign comics in general and bang! here I am. I have a modest goreign collection mainly consisting of ASM 238 (about 12), 251 (also, about 12) and Spectacular 119. I have a couple of very cool ASM 300's and the majority of Wolverine 1's. I have "met" a bunch of great people participating in this niche both in the US and outside if it. It's an absolute blast trying to track down a book that you are not entirely sure even exists. Considering it likely needs to be done using google translate it's even more interesting and challenging. The people who I have worked with have been fun, informative, accepting and all around, the people anyone would be happy to interact with. While I still love US comics, the foreigns have become a very fun focus and a great addition to a sizeable US collection. Displaying the foreigns with the US counterparts makes for great conversation. The provenance of individual comics or publishing history in general and how that intersrcts with the sociological and political underpinnings of various publication times theoughout history is fascinating. I bid everyone welcome to the crew, enjoy!

Karl! How goes it my friend! Thanks for joining up….. Yes I had a feeling you were gonna go far in this thing we do. Its been a joy watching your sets and passion grow. Im getting ready to create a 12 book or more set thread in the modern section. Hope to see that 238 and 251 there….. You are correct in your observations on the sociological/cultural impacts of what we do. There are very few people acquiring these cultural artifacts in just the peculiar way we do. Remember though…. I did warn you about the addictive nature of all this. If you are not careful the "sickness" will take hold. And then my friend there is not much anybody can do. LOL

I'm guessing it's safe to say that everyone here either knows me or at least knows who I am. Just to give everybody a quick update... Friday March 24th 2017 was my last official day as an employee at CBCS. I'll still be involved with the company but in the capacity of Consultant & Foreign Comic Specialist. As such I'll still be traveling to conventions. I'm currently in the process of packing up here in Florida and will be heading back to Indiana for the time being. At present, the upcoming conventions on my schedule are: Indiana Comic Con - April 14-16 indianacomiccon.com/C2E2 (Chicago) - April 21-23 CBCS isn't able to attend the convention itself but will be taking submissions for on-site grading at Reggie's. Motor City Comic Con - May 19-21 motorcitycomiccon.com/

Pretty crazy news Tim. I think I can speak for most people that we wish you well on your journey. Id be lying if I said I wasn't worried CBCS's ability to keep the foreign thing on lockdown might suffer, but all in all you need to do whats is in your best interest. Thanks for everything you did there to legitimize our little niche of the hobby. I know you will keep down the path less traveled my friend.....

Hello everyone! My name is Gary and I've been collecting comics since the 90s but have only just started on foreign comics. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is my addiction. Once I finished the run of G.I. Joe 1-155 I started hunting down the 2nd and 3rd printings. I moved from those to price variants, direct and retail. I was completely oblivious to foreign issues until I met Mr. Roybal on facebook. He hooked me up with a website that has every G.I. Joe comic printed in countries other than the U.S. I do pick up non English keys for my business when I see them but G.I. Joe is really the only series I collect. I do have one Wonder Woman comic from Mexico. It's a Day of the Dead variant and I had to have it because I thought it looked really cool.

Im stoked I was able to show you the dark side a little bit. International Joe books is a cool focus for sure. Lots of them out there, some way more difficult than others. I will keep a lookout.....

Hi all, my name is Greg and I am located in Australia. I've been collecting comics since I was 10 and growing up in a remote northern area, the only comics available were Australian reprints. I have a (large) growing collection of Australian Westerns and Science Fiction titles and have recently stumbled onto the world of international comic collecting. I love to trade and have a great number of Australian comics - Horror, Science Fiction, Superhero and Westerns - that I would love the opportunity to swap for similar titles from across the world. I'm looking forward to learning from those who have been collecting for some time. Hope to chat with many of you soon.

Welcome aboard, Sir! Please feel free to introduce yourself in the thread. I've been collecting for about 45 years. My first "non-US" comics were a Thor comic and a Captain America comic that my friend's mom bought us while on vacation in Europe. I believe they are from Spain. I've collected a few British Marvel comics. Foreign comics have always interested me, but they have to cross my path before I buy them. I don't go out of my way to locate them and buy them.

Hi there
My name is Colin Le Roux from South Africa, I am joining here to see if I can help source some rare South African comics for anyone interested in our versions. I don't have a job so I spend all my time looking everywhere to find rare items to sell to foreign buyers. So if you have any requests or wants list I will get to work to see if it can be found. Hope to be of help.

Hello there. IV been with the foreign comic page for a year or more but don’t really talk to anyone. I do enjoy seeing what each of you have for sale. Most is not what I am collecting but I already have in English. My passion now is to collect as many different languages of hulk 181. If any are interested in seeing my collection go to YouTube and look up (Awesome Hulk 181 collection ) it’s about 15 minates long. It’s also not all there yet it will be updated when I get me new stuff back from the graders. Let me know if you have anything of interest. Have a good day.

Hello. I am excited to join your group and I have been a comic collector on and off for years starting in the early 80's, but I am back again. Collecting in the US, I am amazed at how many "variant" covers exist for many individual titles. I wonder if it is the same in Europe.
Can anyone recommend a good comic book store in Rome? I will be there in a few days. Thank you!

Welcome guanyu!! Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Rome, but from what I hear, the comic book industry is alive and well in Italy!! I did a quick Google search and 30+ comic book stores came up on Yelp. If no one has any personal recommendations, you might want to check the list out. Yelp link

Hi everyone, I'm Pablo and new here. I'm from Spain, I've been reading comics since I was a kid, especially Marvel and DC comics Earlier this year I made a travel trough Europe and I found some particular issues in Italy that awake my love to find and collect some foreign comics. Right now I'm on my own mission to search more from other countries, and in that internet search I found this forum, that makes me happy to see people with the same interest. I really would like to learn more, and also buy and trade some numbers maybe.
